Welcome to Fedco’s 2026 Bulbs order!
As I write this, the robins are chirping, making way for an evening chorus of wood frogs, woodcocks, and the first spring peepers. Here in central Maine, the springtime light cuts through the stark, leafless trees, and only the earliest blooms are open: crocuses, snowdrops and Eranthis with its woodland blossoms feeding miner bees and other native species. It’s a magical time of year, mud and all.
Winter has its beauty, but it can feel isolating, stifling, frozen in time and place. But spring here in the North is a testament, in every meaning of the word. Spring bears witness to, and proves true, our resilience. In our communities, big or small, we endure chilly times because we know the diversity and abundance of spring will push through and blossom. Winter will pass and all the green things will flourish where they belong. Spring is our agreed-upon mutual reward for withstanding the coldest season.
The fall-planted bulbs and bare-root perennials offered in this catalog are our investments. They ensure spring will arrive in its finest attire. To us, they’re of the highest value; one real blossom in the landscape is worth more than a billion dollars of AI slop.
Within these pages you’ll see we’ve continued to spruce up our lineup, beginning with a few great new Garlic varieties. Last year’s expansion of our Peony selection was such a success that we’ve added even more cultivars for 2026. After a hiatus, Bearded Irises have returned to our list, and for the first time we’re offering through our website a small but exciting selection of Ranunculus and Poppy Anemones. We’ve done our best to mitigate import tariffs on flowerbulbs from Holland to bring you fun new daffodils and tulips for your collection.
Happy reading, and happy planting this fall.
