This apple of the earth entices with its smooth glossy skin and uniform tuber size and shape, and you don’t even have to fear eternal banishment when you take a bite. Starchy texture is ideal for baking, mashing, fries and homemade chips. Tolerates a wide variety of soil conditions. The tubers have a very long dormant period and shallow eyes that tend to cluster at one end: plan to chit whole tubers.
Bred by Cornell out of a 1989 Steuben cross and released in 1999. Good resistance to early blight and scab, and excellent resistance to viruses and golden nematodes. No hollow heart or internal necrosis; susceptible to late blight.
